Flagler will open the Southeast Regional against Newberry.

No. 24 Flagler receives No. 2 seed in Southeast Regional

INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 24 (AVCA Division II Top 25) Flagler College earned a No. 2 seed in this weekend's NCAA Division II Southeast Regional which will be held at Wingate University in Wingate, N.C. The entire NCAA Division II field is comprised of 64 schools.

Flagler (28-6 overall, 13-1 Peach Belt) makes its third consecutive Southeast Region appearance. The Saints won the regional title in its first year (2009) and were runners-up last year. Flagler captured a share of its third consecutive Peach Belt Conference regular season title and this afternoon won its third-straight conference tournament title.

Olivia Snipes (Easley, S.C., Easley HS) was selected as the PBC Tournament Most Valuable Player and joined Dianna Craine (Oshawa, Ontario, University of Tulsa) on the All-Tournament Team. Snipes also earned PBC Setter of the Year and Casey Gnann (Boca Raton, Fla., Spanish River HS) was voted the PBC's Libero/Defensive Specialist of the Year. Joining Snipes on the all-conference first-team was Crystal Niederriter (Merritt Island, Fla., Merritt Island HS). Craine, Gnann and Emilee Taylor (Temple Terrace, Fla., Armwood HS) all earned second-team all-conference honors. Taylor Mott was selected for the third consecutive year as the PBC Coach of the Year. She shared the honors with Will Condon of Armstrong Atlantic this year.

Facing the Saints in the first round will be Newberry College (16-15, 7-11 South Atlantic), the No. 7-seed in the region. Samantha Parrish earned second-team All-SAC honors. She led the team with 386 kills (3.30/set).

The Saints defeated the Wolves 3-2 in the first match of the USC Aiken Invitational on Sept. 9. Niederriter led the Saints with 24 kills and hit .568. Rachel Stacy (Orlando, Fla., Timber Creek HS) added 14 kills and hit .423. Lauren Prachar led Newberry with 13 kills. Parrish recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. The winner of the Flagler-Newberry match will face the winner of the No. 3-seed Armstrong (35-2, 13-1 PBC) and No. 6-seed Tusculum College (18-12, 10-8 SAC).

The top seed in the tournament is the host school, Wingate University (30-0, 18-0 SAC). The Bulldogs won the South Atlantic Conference regular and post season titles. They will face No. 8-seed Lees-McRae College (27-8, 18-0 Conference Carolinas), the regular and post season champions of Conference Carolinas.

The winner of the match will face the winner of No. 4 Catawba College (22-7, 14-4 SAC) and No. 5 Lincoln Memorial University (22-6, 14-4 SAC).

The winner of the regional will move on to the national quarterfinals Dec. 1 at a site to be determined.
